This morning my mom and I took a walk down by the river. She said it was four miles back and fourth, but I was up to the challenge.
The scenery was beautiful. Unless of course you looked in the river and caught a glimpse of a empty bag of chips. Or you looked at the skate park adorned with graffiti. Or you saw the dog poo a dog left. Or you heard the whistle of a passing train and saw the train yard. But I think you got my point.
It twas a hot day...and it was only 12 o'clock! I'm glad we didn't leave at three or it would be burning up.
The sound of the rushing water of the river was instantly relaxing, although there was the passing train. As we walked through the park there was a party going on. The smell of barbecue lingering through the air was mouth watering. It was nice and cool on the trail in the park because of the shade offered by the canopy of trees. The best place to rest was in the park as well, being that there was a ton of benches.
Halfway through the trail there was this bench. But instead of facing the scenic river, it was facing a gravel-filled plot of land. And in that plot of land there was a big sewer pipe directly in front of the bench. Now that's a b-e-a-utiful sight, eh?
Sitting on the rocks in the river was a duck. And it was just sitting there, doing nothing. That was some lazy duck. There was an abundant amount of squirrels on the trail too. On the way back to the car there was this HUGE bug (my mom said it was a gypsy moth). It was so disgustingly big that it should of had a leash on. Just another "scenic" part of Roanoke i guess.
