OK so sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I've been helping around the house and been getting ready for school, which begins this week. But on with the New York saga!
So on to Monday (at the end of this will be pictures of the big city). My grandpa had a whole "to-do list" for my dad, so while he was fixing the many leaky sinks and toilets, my mom and I were off glamming it up at 18Th avenue.
That night we were going to this sort of family Reunion thingy at my aunt's house (more on that later) so my mom and i got our hair cut and styled, went shopping and had lunch at a pizzeria. So basically we had a girls day out.
First we were starving (maybe from all that walking?) so we had lunch. We went by a polish place but there was nothing there that i liked to we went across the street to a pizzeria. I got two slices of pizza, thinking that they would be the size like they are down here. WRONG! The two slices that i got were the equivalent to four regular slices of pizza pie down here! But i got to say, boy did I miss that New York pizza. And to all the people who think Domino's "Brooklyn-style" pizza is like New York pizza....you guys are sadly mistaken.
After our great lunch, we got our hair done at this Chinese place. It seems to be that all the hair salons are now owned my Chinese. When two woman took us to get our hair washed, i swear it was just like a massage. Ask my mom if you don't believe it. And they were speaking in Chinese the whole time, so we had no idea what the heck they were saying. I got the feeling that they were talking about us...
When they were finally done with the massage/15 minute shampooing, we had to wait for ten minutes for a chair to open up. While we were waiting this Chinese lady came over to me and gave me a Victoria's secret catalogue...OK....
When a chair opened up the lady told me to go, so my mom had to wait. It was a little hard to understand the guy who was cutting my hair to tell him what i wanted, but luckily i had a picture and he did it exactly how i wanted it. When he was finished with cutting it, he took out a blow dryer and a round brush and made my hair pin straight. Then to make it even straighter, he took out a flat iron. I loved how straight he got my hair, but my mom wouldn't let her person go near the flat iron.
Next up...shopping! We walked into Something Else and i couldn't believe they could charge 60 dollars for a Juicy terry sweater...that was on sale! It was so crazy that we just went out of there. The other big store that we went to was Rainbow. There the prices were a lot cheaper, and i actually got stuff there, but the dressing rooms were SO disgusting! The first one the sales woman brought me to have gum and dirt and i don't even know what other stuff all over the place that i changed to one that only had one gob of gum on the wall.
And that night we went to my aunt's house for a home cooked dinner with my family. There was an antipasto, baked pasta, meatballs, pork and potatoes, green beans, chocolate cookies and seven layers. And it was great aunt El!
